Both of those are very popular. You might try driving some cars with different shifters in them to get a feel for their differences, pros/cons.
This is a very subjective question that gets asked a dozen times a month. There is never a consensus of opinion, so unless you're counting the various replies as votes to tally it might not help you decide.
Many like the latest craze...C6/Z06 shifters and the newer MGW.
Maybe researching in C5 Tech by clicking search this forum (in the red banner) using keywords of the various manufacturers of shifters will get you some insight.

I have not heard one person say a bad thing about the MGW. That is what I am getting.

LOVE my MGW ... I need him to make one for my 4th Gen Camaro to replace the B&M Ripper Shifter that's currently in there ...

I've had the B&M and Hurst. I didn't like neither, but If I was forced to pick one, I would keep the Hurst. BTW, I'm running stock shifter again and loving every second of it.

Another vote for the MGW shifter. It is MUCH notchier and precise with no additional effort required than the B&M that I had in my Z28, but I can't say how it compares to the Hurst shifter.

You will not be disappointed in the MGW.

I doubt very much that you will see smoother shifting with either the B&M or Hurst. You will get a more precise/accurate/faster, but certainly not smoother than factory. I can only speak for these two as they are the only one's I've personally had installed in my z.

I say, unless your into some type of performance driving hobby, factory is the best choice IMO.
