Okay guys I work full time and go to school at night my commute to school consists of a decent amount of highway driving. This is the reason I just sold my 80 Vette it was getting 13 mpg in town and 16 on highway Yeah I just couldn afford it. I thought I might go the compact car route started looking around and there are some nice cars out there BUT there not a Vette So guyz tell me do the 6speed manual vettes really get close to 30 mpg on highway??? I just want to here from some manual C5 vette drivers to see if this is a possibility for me as a daily driver. Thanks so much
By far it is the stop and go that will kill you. I do mixed driving. My best overall average for a tank is 23, my worst is 19. Every time I am on the free way without stop and go the mileage is awesome... right around 30. But stop and go, traffic lights, etc will kill it.
I was in a parking lot a few weeks ago with the car running and I sat there talking on the phone for 5 minutes. The avg mpg was like a count down timer, just counting down down down.
So it really comes down to your drive and the lights and traffic that you encounter.
