There is definite lag in 1st and 2d gear where the revs soar fast. But on a launch I shift at 6200-6300 (for 1-2 and 2-3) and 6500 for 3-4; and this lets me --almost always--stay off the limiter. If you're seeing the limiter at an indicated 6000, just revise the shift point downward to say 5800. There is a fine line, though, cause short shifting will cost you some tenths.
Might also suggest you intentionally hit the limiter in 2d and 3d to see what the tac is reading and whether it is consistently low. I suspect it will read closer to actual in 2d and almost dead-on in 3d.

That is a big problem with the zo6 my 01 did it and my 02 is worse with more power added. Hell now I shift at 5,800 rpms with the nitrous on because I can barely see the needle as it swings by.
