Modding the ashtray door
I recently put in a gtech meter and have it plugged into the cigarette lighter. Now the main door and the ash tray door remain open. I was using the ashtray for coins. I see theres another door on the tray with a spring. Has anyone took off the spring and maybe used a magnet to keep the smaller door closed. Or are their any aftermarket trays or doors to put in their. I see a lot of custom switches or radios put in there but i could really use the coin spot and really just need something simple.

Perhaps the spring could be modifyed to hold the ashtray door closed. I used my ashtray for the fickle finger cup holder mod and I can't remember how it was set up originally. You can heat the spring and stick it through the body of the ashtray if that would help you re-adjust how the spring works. Good luck. Join the rest of us modaholics!
