Default Radiator Protection Screen

My 99 has a Vortex Rammer and I would like to add a radiator protection screen of some type. I see them in the catalogs from $70-$130. I bet this could be a DIU project. Any tips on type of screen, size, etc. I did a search but would like more specific info, so any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

This gets asked and discussed a lot. Did you try search or search this forum (in the red banner) in C5 Tech?
I just tried "radiator screen" as keywords...there are 45 pages of past discussions. That should give you some helpful hints...

JW,
Thanks for the info, I did a search in general discussion, not tech.

I have one of these that I bought from Elite Engineering - very well built.

http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/C...or_screen.html

The problem is that because of my Hurricane Intake (crappy design) it is too much trouble to change the air filter as I would have to remove this screen (7 screws) every time I needed to access the Hurricane filter (plus 12 more screws and bolts to remove).

Therefore, I have a brand new EE Radiator Screen I would sell for $60 + shipping. If you are interested, just PM me.

I have the Hurricane too, I think he means getting at it to clean it and re-oil it, It is a PITA but I do it as a massive Spring cleaning effort.

Of course the damn thing hasn't even been dirty!

The screen from Elite Engineering is very nice. I have it on my 03 and I am running a Callaway Honker. You have to remove the Callaway housing from the top to clean the filter so no issues here as noted with those running a Hurricane CAI. EE's screen keeps out all the medium to large debri. Some small stuff like grass clippings may still get through. However, I think you will be happy with the end result and its ability to keep your filter clear.

Good deal. I have the Elite Engineering screen - very well designed and constructed. I looked at most of the alternatives before choosing the EE.

Got that... for the Hurricane I need tranquilizers!!! ...an exercise in patience.

I would normally do it every 6 months because of this dusty environment, but since the Hurricane I am down to about once per year now. I have to wait for the neighbors kids to be inside for when the cussing begins.
