I recently bought an '02 Coupe with a couple years and 20-25,000 miles left on GM warranty which was purchased by the owner I purchased car from, when he bought the car used from a Chevy dealer. He told me that by transfering title to me that warranty will automaticly be transfered to me and that I do not have to do any further paperwork to put title into my name. Is this true, or do I need to do anything further to be sure that this warranty will be honored when and if the time comes. I know that GMs warranties can only be transfered one time, and thats not a problem in this case, but I just feel that I should have something with my name on it, indicating this warranty. Any learned opinions would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

This is not correct, you must contact GMPP within 30 days of the sale, there is a form you have to fill out and a $50 fee. There is an 800 # to call in the link I will give you. Here's a link to the FAQ page. http://www.gmprotectionplanonline.com/gmpp-faq
Read the last question on the page "What if I sell my vehicle before the GM Protection Plan expires?"

Wow, Thanks for the info. I'm glad I asked the question. I thought it was sort of odd, the way he (seller) was explaining it to me. Well, thanks again. Much appreciated. Mike
So I've had my car for 6 months and it has 2 years left on the GMPP warranty from the orginal owner. I didn't get it transfered because the dealership said that warranty goes with that car and getting it transfered was optional. So am I out of luck with the warranty, is that 2 years worth wasted. Wonder if I call GM and tell them the dealer gave me misinformation if they would still let me transfer it?

I hope you have it in writing about the warranty, I think that will be the only chance you will have, I would be at the car lot first thing in the morning.
My warranty is getting more interesting. It appears that owner I bought car from, bought car from Chevy dealer with 7500 miles on it, and the warranty is an 'Easy Care' warranty, written by Chevy dealer. Curiously enough, the dealer tells me it is a very good warranty, and that it is underwritten by Ford (yuck). My only problem is that the warranty is supposed to be transfered within 15 days of new owner, and I'm several days past that already. Anyone ever dealth with something like this? Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
