C5 Side Spears

I'm looking to upgrade to a C5 convertible and I see some with side spears and some without. What is the significance of this?

Disussed many times. It really comes down to a personal choice. Some like 'em, some don't. You can always remove them if you want.

They are referred too as BSMs . BODY SIDE MOLDINGS.

I have them... but really would like them removed...

untill I park and some unkind person slams the door.

So I still have them.

PS... I think they are tolerable on darker colors as they are not as noticeable. IMO

Go to a Vette show or just start looking at fellow Corvette Forum members photos. Some people hate them, some like them. Some even claim aerodynamic properties

I feel they're a necessary evil - the C5 looks cleaner without them, but it also looks terrible with door chips.
