I was asked to have my car in the local high school homecoming parade. The homecoming queen will be riding in the car. I have a coupe,is it okay for someone to set on the hoop with the top off? She probably weighs 100 lbs. I really need to know this, so i can give them an answer.
Think about it my friend....if the car can't hold the weight of a person how the hell is it going to hold the weight of the car if it ever flipped over. I have had two friends flip their vettes and both of them lived because of their seat belts and the "hoop".
The car isn't made out of styrofoam.
You will be fine with putting a girl up there or a dude at that matter. Just make sure she isnt wearing anything that's going to wreck your paint.
here's a pic I took last week at the Corvette Museum of a C5 without a body. as you can see how substantial the hoop is. should not be a problem supporting the young lady
The b-pillar exterior panel is bonded to the metal roll hoop underneath it on a C5. So long as she's light and doesn't flop down on it she should be ok. That said I'm not sure what she'll use to stabilize herself when up there an dnot sure if her feet will hit anything. A vert is a better option for this. I wouldn't do it. I recently finished making my Z06 a targa so I'm very familiar with the structure of these cars etc.
No problem unless she was also crowned "Most Likely to Break a Scale". She won't damage the structural element, but you also don't want to take a chance on cracking the body panel covering. On the plus side, bigger girls tend to distribute the load over a larger area (lower PSI).
Just make sure to duct tape her ankles to the passenger seat before popping the clutch and make sure she has enough boobage to cushion an emergency stop on the top of the windshield! Might have her do a couple emergency practice runs just to make sure her aim is on target.

I think you/she will be fine - it's a parade. For safety... Just make sure she does not flop backwards and slide down the glass to the back and you will be fine.

Reason: Agreed with 1ou99 and edited out any "smartazz" comments
I've participated in several parades before and had no problem letting someone sit up there. I even covered a board that fits between the door arm rest and the center console cover to make it easier to stand on to get up there.
Have fun in the parade and remember, this event is about her, not the Vette (though a lot of people will be just as interested in the Vette).
Just a quick idea.
Open the hatch, take a micro fiber towel and thread it through the space, gather both ends under the bow and duct tape them together, close the hatch. Get something like one of those synthetic blankets (real soft but light) fold to size and place on top of microfiber area. A 100 lb girl should find that nice and cushy and may help with the "slippage" problem.
As far as stability when enroute, one thing that comes to mind is to try to loop some 1/4 inch nylon rope through the upper seatbelt anchors and tie the ends to make a loop that spans the interior from one side to the other with a little slack. Beauty Queen sits on bow and hooks legs behind loop that crosses interior, leans back and may be able to balance better with something to balance against.
If you just sit her up there (with nothing to hold on to), she may have to sit bent pretty forward due to no where to put feet and the precarious perch, not sure how long she will stay up there that way :-)
