I first saw that car over at the garage about four years ago. It says 514 hp on the fender. It is no doubt a 427, but they didn't have factory LS7s back then did they?

Jay
He said they put a LS7 "crate motor" in the C5, so apparently the motors were available when he did the swap. I'd say it was probably 3 years ago (2005) when the C6Z first appeared as the 2006 model year.
Man that was so sweet. I am on the fence about trading my 2000 coupe in for a 2004 Z06 (Z16) at Carmax. I may just keep my coupe since it is paid for and still go after the Z06.
He is right about the gas prices, I take my lunch to work and use the extra money for gas. Ride hard and wave always....
I thought I was the first to put a LS7 into a C5 - well at least I have the dry sump system oh and 565rwhp
BTW - every interview I see with Jay he always takes the time to talk to the person like the person is an equal. I never once saw him talk like he was better than anyone else. He just has been more fortunate than others.
The first year for Zo6 was 1963 (only available in the coupe -which was the only year for the split window, kinda neat)
All Zo6's made had the fuelie 327/360, M21 close ratio transmission, positraction, vacuum brake booster, dual-line master cylinder with a special copper screw-on fluid fill cap, sintered metallic brake linings within "Al-fin" drums cooled by front air scoops and vented backing plates, a 20% larger diameter front sway bar, larger diameter shocks, and springs nearly twice as stiff as standard.
Aluminum knock-off wheels were supposed to be standard on the Zo6 (optional on other Corvettes) but casting issues forced almost no knock-off wheel delivery on any '63.... the wheels were not available until 1964
Also... interesting to me as I read it... although Chevrolet produced 199 Zo6's careful study reveals that not all of them were intended to be raced. Chevrolet delivered only 124 cars without radios, and just 63 of them got the larger (tanker) fuel tank.
That guy was a tool. ( maybe the whole toolbox) I am surprised there wasn't more post like that.
The "tool" here ... you're actually the real tool. So what was wrong with the comment? Jay was talking about the C5 Z06 ... not referring to the first ever Z06, which I know was the 1963 model.
Hey ... Jay was wrong in his video, and if he's going to be a "car expert" then he should know what the facts are on the stock HP of the C5Z.
I'd really like to meet Jay someday and BS with him about cars ... I'm sure he's a great down to earth guy. Not knocking him ... just stating the facts.
