You need to look under the seats.

Here is a picture of what the proper seat control module and harness should look like.

Didn't know the telescopic control was in the SCM! Thanks AJG. I've been racking my brain over that thing. My lumbar function still doesn't work in my driver or passanger seat. I can't even hear the motor trying to engage. Do you think I have a faulty SCM?

That's kind of strange that neither lumbar controls work in either seat.

Check fuse #3 in passenger side fuse box (Footwell)

Will do. I think I remember the lumbar functions in the driver side working shortly after the install. Is it possible I have a bad control switch (or 2)?

Have you guys tried cleaning the ground connectors for the affected systems?
The footwell courtesy lights AND the telescoping wheel are both grounded at a common point, #G201, at the bottom of the drivers A-pillar. The SCM is grounded at # G301, inside the B-pillar. There are corresponding grounds, #G202 and #G302, in the same locations on the passenger side. Since the telescoping wheel is tied to the SCM, I'd say it's possible that either gound could cause a problem with both. It's worth a try.
Here's a link with the ground locations, and connecting circuits.

Fuses were part of the problem, as I have been trading PM's with him.

I'm assuming they disconnected the seats without disconnecting the battery first and shorted the fuses, because thes circuits are always live, unlike some other circuits that are controlled by the ignition.

Trying to guess what is wrong in these circumstatnces is tough as most guys don't use a power tester or know which wires are hot and when, etc...

I sprung for both the service manuals and DVD version of GM manuals for the C5.

They have been invaluable during all of the crazy mods that I have done to my car.

okay guys I switched the module or switch from the original seat in the car to my new sport seats and everything works again! This harness had 2 connectors like what is in the car. the blue being for the wheel and black for the seats. This was confusing because I had switches out, and the switch was broken under my seat as well because when I installed that switch and harness back into my 98 seat it now doesnt work and it worked there before 100%. Its very weird but the problem has to be in that box 100%. I should have just not had telescoping wheel since I didnt have that harness hooked up not problems with the seat.

However, Im having a new problem, not sure when it started. Turning the headlights on in the car doesnt produce any lighting inside the car. However when I open the doors all the lights come on inside the car?? If I close the door and try to get them to come on with the headlight switch it doesnt work. I do not have a headlight module installed in the car could this be the cause?

thank you!
