ok i went to this place call speakerworks too get my New i pod touch hookd to my stock radio unit and they told me it cant be done! is this true? said ill have to buy a new aftermarket head unit?
The IPOD2CAR interface should work with the IPOD touch!!! I have a 30 GB IPOD. I use it everyday!! The Touch has the same power cable so it should hook right up to the IPOD2CAR interface. It plugs into the rear of the stock headunit. Then a long IPOD cable can be routed anywhere to hook it up!!
All you have to do is make sure you get the right cable to hook up to the head unit. My Z hooked up right to the rear. But some C5's get wired up from the CD changer!! There is quite a few thread on it http://cgi.ebay.com/Peripheral-iPod2...d=p3286.c0.m14

Iphone 3G seems to work with most of the ipod / iphone products of the past with the exception of charging. Apparently from what we are hearing Apple has changed the way the 3G charges, in the bottom connector they have removed the firewire charging wires and are only using the USB charging wires, I would imagine the manufacturers of the stuff we sell will eventually change the charge wires so it will charge the 3G, but for now the music seems to work great through most of these products.

I can't speak for ipod to a Bose head unit, but I can tell you that my Pioneer D3 couldn't read the video from a Classic or a Touch because of their "format" not being compatible. I had to return the Classic and buy a refurbed 5.5 Gen ipod. Now all is good. Ya might want to research the possibility that that stereo shop might have been correct. Maybe not, I dunno.

It can be done. I have the Itouch in my car but I did change my head unit however I did have my regular Ipod attached to my stock HU before my husband changed everything
I have isimple ISGM73 ipod interface hooked up to stock bose cd changer cable that I use with ipod classic 80GB. I borrowed a 1st gen ipod touch (2nd gen ipod touch are just now coming out). The ipod touch seemed to work fine. I was able to hear music, use buttons on stock radio to advance songs and it turned off (I'm guessing went into charge mode) when I switch to FM source. Looking at the ISGM73 box it has sticker that says compatible with ipod classic(80GB or 160GB), ipod nano(3rd generation video, 4GB, 8GB) and ipod touch(8GB, and 16 GB). I think you will be ok...
