the dealer here in BEAUTIFUL SUNNY OXNARD,CA quoted 1400 bones to replace abs .The warning lightscome on maybe once a week to get it serviced..is it a chip ?anyone had this done out there??got about 55k milage wise..does this sound right?
Replace ABS? Are you getting codes? What are the codes? Chances are it's the EBTCM.....which can be repaired for approx $150. Post the codes, and we can better diagnose the problem.
Check out www.absfixer.com. The site will help you diagnose your problem. He will repair your module for $150 and has a much better warranty on the part's repair than GM.
I have had a problem with my ABS/Traction control for a while now. I was told my Electronic Brake control Module was bad....i assume its the EBTCM. Neither ABS or Traction control or Active Handling work at all. I was quoted $1600 for the box plus installation. Could this be a simpler fix, cheaper fix? Thanks.
well i was told i have the DEATH CODE regarding the ABS on top of that its a dealer only repair....all of sudden the light has stopped popping on....i was told when it`s shot reset button doesn`t reset any more..TO BE CONTINUED!!!, screw it i`m going to the beach!!

This is not a dealer only repair. They are lying to you.. shocker I know. If you spend that money on the repair, I have some beachfront property here in AZ I'll sell ya too.
I also had the dreaded 1214 error code indicating a dead ABS contrrol module. The stealership locally wanted $ 1000.00 for the module and installation. Did the removal and reinstall my self in less than an hour total. ABS fixer cost including shipping $163.39. Only other cost was a Torax 20 screwdriver for $8.00. Screw you Stealership !!
I just had this happen to my '03 Z06 this past week. (45K miles). G-d bless my GM extended warranty. Dealer said replacement of controller would have been $1450 if I had to pay for it. So, now I am at $2800 in repairs over the last few years and "only" paid ~$1400 for my 4 year 40K Miles $200 deductible warranty. You can bet that I plan to extend the extended warranty if at all possible. Welcome to the world of GM products, and especially Corvettes!!!!!!
I suspect the dealership repair price would be about $200 if they didn't have the extended warranty company to bill the $2000 to.
Eventually we are probably going to see a 700 billion bailout for extended warrant companies !
Our 2004 Suburban had an ABS error, $800 later, billed to extended warranty, the error was gone.
Probably in a 10 years, extended warrantys will be half the price of the car , then nobody will buy them , then the price of repairs will go down, then the price of extended warrantys will go down and then we will buy them again !
We will start over I guess...
Think about this, the ABS FIXER charges $160 and they are MAKING MONEY !
I took the SUB. to get the Oil changed ( dealer) a few weeks back, I assumed it was around $20 like it had always been for the past couple of years.
I went to pay and they charged me $65,
Oil
Oil Filter
Rotate tires
Air condition freshener
a few other odd ball charges.
When I left I had only paid them $35, this was after I turned on my Italian charm and advised them that the world was full of fools, but at this current moment, I was not one of them.
