Default Diagnose this problem...

My car has been running real rough lately. Here are the symptoms:
  • Check Engine Light On. (Oxygen sensor. Right bank. Pre-cat.)
  • Rough Idle. Sometimes sticks at 2000rpm, sometimes idles under 500rpm.
  • Very bad gas mileage. 8 MPG.
  • At some points the exhaust sounds very weird and sounds like a gurgle, and when I press the accelerator, it feels like the car has no power, and then it just "grabs" the power and the revs jump, and the wheels spin.
  • Unburned gasoline can be smelled in the cabin at times, like the car is runing way rich.

OK. I replaced both sensors (pre-cat) and no dice. Checked the individual header temps and the ones on the right bank average from 180-210F, the ones on the left bank are averaging from 280-320F.

What could be the problem???

Thanks.

Intake manifold leak, left side?? Seems that side would run hotter if leaned out by an air leak. Air leak would explain rough idle and when you put some throttle to it, it over powers the leak more and runs somewhat better. Also might explain gas smell.

That's my guess and it's not a very educated one

What is proper normally running Header temp?

Right side seems kind of cold to me for an exhaust manifold.

Raw gas - no fire? Bad Plug or injector on right side?

Pull Plugs and see if one or more are wet.

Also might check to see if one of your CATs are coming apart and plugged up?

The bad sensor threw off your fuel trims, when you replaced the sensor the bad fuel trims are still there, it will either take a couple days to learn itself right or you can unplug the battery for a while to clear them, should fix it

It sounds like the PCM was dumping fuel on one side....I would pull plugs on that side. I bet they will be gas fouled or black.

Tried that. No go. Will try pulling the plugs to see what's up.
