Pinks All Out

Questions: Rich (host) "congratulations your the first Vette to make it this far", in regard to final 8,
then he won everything with a bored over 5.7 427 LS1,(and A4).
How come Vettes do so poorly on that show?????????????????????
And if Scott won with 'just' a 427 mod, what about all the others (Vettes), with F.I., and other HiPo mods, there never on Pinks and if they are they, sorry, suck compared to the other heavy muscle cars?
(though many are gutted and obviously only track cars, maybe thats it ?)
I don`t quite get it, why is the Vette a general "no show" on Pinks.
I have noticed other Vette drivers on the show, CAN`T LAUNCH at all, couple Z06 come to mind, the do lower 13`s when mid to high 12`s should be more in order. I also strongly note those dang Mustangs BREAKING down all the time on the show, fast but CHEAP.
Scott (if that is his name), stated "I`m representing" probably MTI in mind but Buddy, you made us all proud, congrats to him. He walked the talk, great job!
There are a lot of fast cars that aren't on the show. Vipers and Supras for instance. I think they just pick unique cars and cars that will make for good close races.

It's not the vette's. If you have ever been to a filming of Pinks, they do a lot of sandbagging and "turn down the boost" or "NO spray". To make the cars as even as possible.

All Out, is nothing like the 'sand bagging' series that your talking about. There are usually 3 to 4 hundred cars show up and they pick the top 16 that are running close to each other. Usually the group that are running close to each other are in the 10 to 11 second range.

P.S. Budlight on the OT forum said the young mans name was Paul Smith, Jr. He didn't know his Sig, tho.

He was at the NCM last month where I had the nice opportunity to meet him. Really nice guy, very willing to talk all about Pinks and the MTI car. I have attached my link, just scroll down it.

Several other corvettes were participating amongst the 450 entries shooting for the Final 16. Paul Smith Jr was competing with a field of seasoned racers that had all qualified between 10.32 and 10.35 for a heads up shootout with a $10,000 cash prize and an $8,000 set of tools and tool box. The tool box was slightly larger than Paul's first house!
We were informed by the PINKS staff that a Corvette had NEVER made it past the 1st round. Paul was focused, hit the groove and ran through the field winning EVERY pass in qualifying.
The final battle was to meet a Mustang in a hot lap competition with no stopping, no shutting the car off, and no exiting the vehicle. Man to man, heads up. The 1st car to win 2 out of 3 races was the Champion. The stands were PACKED with at least 30,000 people! After Rich dropped his hands, the Corvette screamed down the track to win race 1. We were told that the reaction times of Paul Jr were the best they had ever seen in a PINKS competition. With a normally aspirated footbrake car we were obviously in the minority. The Corvette waited for the Mustang to ready himself for another run down the track. They line up, the arms drop, and Paul Smith rockets down the drag for the WIN!!!
This was a major television victory for Corvette owners and drag racing enthusiasts. We wish all of you Corvette guys and gals could have been there. It takes Corvette Drag Racing to a new level. We couldn't have been prouder of Paul Jr. and Sr.

just what i was going to say!Still a slow car compared to lots of the cars that Drag race, some have well over 1000 HP.
No stereotypical cookie-cutter cars for sure.
It's a crap shoot to be picked tho, as they pick the closest 16 cars running that day ..all usually within a tenth of each other.
No 'baggin, no 'tuning down' ..you run the car all out or you get sent home. The crew is good at spottin anyone playin with throttle settings and you can't second guess the time spread they pick.. it's different every show, all depends on the closest 16 cars. They've picked 11 second cars down deep into the 9's .. all depends on what's runnin at that track that day.
Very much would like to run in it.. I'm thinkin a car that will run low tens would have a good chance at it.. providing 15 other cars there that day ran within a tenth of my time
