So my cars all apart, installing a Jensen VM9412..and whats happening is that its all wired up color matched. I plug it in and it will beep when you press a button, but it does not actually turn on...I hooked it up to a battery and it got more power to turn on. I cant really figure out why its not getting enough volts to power up. Even if its not, how can I possibly fix that? Is my only solution running all the wires right to the battery?! (god i really dont want to do this lol)
No, you don't want to run the power leads directly to the battery because someday you will forget to turn off the stereo and you will come back to a dead battery. Sounds like you need to re-do your power lead connections. Make sure your tapped into a "Switched" power source and make sure your ground connection is good. If either one is not connected well, your stereo will not work. If all else fails, take the car into a car stereo shop and let them help you. It could be worth the small amount they would charge you. Good luck.
its ur switched power wire, read the c5 faq in car audio, you DO NOT want to tap into the harness for switched power, go to the passenger footwell or ignition switch
