Default What is this part?

I finished washing my 2003 Z. I pulled it in the garage to wipe it down. When I stopped it I heard something drop near the rear. I walked around to the back and this was lying just under the driver's side rear of the car. What is it? Where does it go?
I only need one correct answer so feel free to list all the smart azz answers you can think of...

Default rear bumper lift

it looks like the piece thats inserted in the rear bumper grille when they start sagging from the heat. look under the bumper and it should have another one in the bumper on the other side.

Yep, that's an ACI "butt-sag" preventer/fixer. Got 'em on both my vettes.

You should put some trim adhesive on it and pop it back in place. Trial fit it first, though, so you know how it goes on before putting the glue on.

Thanks guys! I just went out to the garage and took a look. The other side is missing, but I see where it goes.

It took me longer to take and post the picture then it did to get the answer. This board is the best!!!!

If both sides have fell out, then you most likely have also lost both of the flux capacitors that are mounted directly above.
Do not try to pass any Mustangs until replacement of above said flux capacitors as your car is no longer capable of hyper drive.

your car was asking you to check its under carriage. You are not paying it enough attention

Every 1000th Vette came with a special tool for drying the car. You found yours, now hurry and put it on ebay. Someone will buy it.

I'm going to go out and removed mine right now! It makes the car lighter right? Should be good for a few tenths on the 1320.

Okay, my faith in the forum has been bolstered by the last 8 posts. Into every thread a little truth must fall. I think OzzyC4 wins, but only by the slightest of margins over so many great answers. Thanks guys!!

Since when did we need hyper drive to pass a mustang?
