Just a thought. As vette owners we are all blessed, a lot more than many others. Not saying we are all loaded, cuz I know I am most certainly not. But, I think that as a collective group we could all give back. Here is my idea. We pick a cause, say Alzheimers. For every vette that waves at you, you put .01 back. Just a penny. At a certain date all the funds from all the vette owners could be sent to said fund (we could exclude vette events from the .01 tax). It would not cost an individal much, maybe $3.00 over the course of the year. But, if we get 30k vette owners on board eventually, then we, as a group, would be sending in 90k to help what ever cause. A pipe dream, I know. But, with word of mouth, I think it could work
We could probably even get a corvette business to join in as the main collection spot, and maybe contribute some as well? One of the big guys like Kerbecks, or Ecklers. That way people can send there money to a plac to hold accountable and not to some person they don't know. Way for people to know it is legit.
It's a great idea. We should all give back, but with all the waves I get it'll be like $1.00 a year. You're on the right track. It would be cool to see if it ever takes off - I'm in.
Why would you want to give events immunity from the "tax"? At a penny a wave, if you get 100 waves, you're talking a buck. Add that a couple times a year, and add in the regular waves, and you get maybe 5 bucks a year. Get 30k vette owners involved and you're talking about 150K. Serious money.
Of course, if we could just get 30K forum members to give 5 bucks to St. Jude......
Interested to see where this goes. It's a novel idea, that I would support.
Sounds like there would be some support. I don't care which charity we use, or how we do the account. I also don't mind including vette events, we just need to get this out to all forums and start a grass roots kind of deal. Would be good to run through a sponsor to send the donations too, like maybe just through corvette forums or what not. Lets make it happen!
Okay, anyone know of a good business that the forum would trust to be the ones to send the donation too? Maybe a forum supporter could jump on this? Then lets pick a charity and start spreading the word! Maybe make it a sticky if the Modeators think this is a good thing as well.
