Default Scuff marks from bra. Help!

I noticed some of you tape the nose up as well as the sides prior to tracking.
I’m thinking about doing the same, albeit for a different reason.
The bra that is currently on my car tends to scuff the finish and I thought I could do the
same prior to installing the bra.

Questions:
1) Will the the tape hurt the finsih?

2) Is there a special type of tape for this particular application ?

Your opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Look at the 3M blue/green painters tape. Most of that has an adhesive that is less tacky and can be left in place for several days w/o leaving a residue.
Be aware though that masking tape is not really intended for automobile (track) use, climate heated automobile body panels, hot track temperatures, etc. It alone won't protect well against rock chips and flying debris.
Adhesive may be left unless you remove it immediately after track use. Applying a wind flapping bra over masking tape may still cause an issue, although it should reduce the chances of damage.
If your current bra is causing an abrasion issue, it's most likely because it's not mounted tight enough, was applied over a dirty surface, the inside of the bra is dirty, or dust has accumulated between the bra/painted surface. That's not to be unexpected on a track.
Lots of ZAINO or wax seems to help reduce the wind flapping paint abrasion damage.
I don't track my car, but I did elect to buy a SPEED LINGERIE bra. The company says it's been tested to 150mph w/o wind flapping which contributes to the paint abrasion. I believe it. The bra fits very tight and uses a unique tongue in groove attachment system. I've had mine for two years and never found any paint abrasion issue.

Exactly the info that I was looking for!
Thank you very much!

Default largest leather bra ..................

Scuff marks , bugs splatter, and abrasions I have delt with for 17 years on the front end of 40' diesel motorcoaches that have the largest surface areas of any moving road vehicle. Nothing splatters a June bug than a bus doing 70MPH!

My American Motor coach has a black leather bra that 6120 sq inches of surface area on a relatively flat front end. The bus is now ten years old and the bra looks like new. My secret is Shinola!! Not Mothers Back to Black, not Meguire's products, not any leather conditioner or saddle soap. Strickly Shinola Black shoe polish.

There's a big difference between that other sh*t and Shinola!

Do you LOVE the bra? I mean, if you're using the bra to protect your finish, but IT is hurting the finish, then... Where are you? And if you don't love the looks of the bra, but it's keeping your front end protected, but you'll never see the front end because of the bra, which you don't love, then... Do you see where I'm going with this?

It's like BSM's on the car. People say they'd rather have THEM get banged up than have the door hit. But if the BSM's look like crap, and they're attached to the car, then it seems like they serve little purpose. That, and you could argue that they appear as bumpers that allow people to open their doors against. But I digress...

I can't tell from your post if you're just using the bra for track events or not. If not, I'd reconsider the use of a bra altogether. A bra can be just as bad for your paint as a little road debris, so why not accept it and drive the car as you really want it?

I don’t track the car.

You point is well taken.
As for me, the car looks “ok” with a bra…but in the same vain I have to admit it does look much better without it. My decision to install it was merely based on the fact that I can’t stand rock chips.
Fortunately in my case the scuff marks were easily removed with scratch remover.

I use a Speed Lingerie and have had no issue with scratches at 140mph+. I do however remove it and vacuum it every week. Along with the bra, during DE's I also use a piece that covers the leading edge hood. I use racing tape to keep the hood piece from flapping, as can be seen in the picture. The racing tape removes easily and leaves no residue.
