Default Best LS6 thermostat temp?

LTx guy new to the LSx world. I just recently picked up a Cadillac CTS-V with the LS6 and want to go to a lower temp thermostat. It's running 195-210 degrees most of the time.

What temp thermostat do most of you run on a fairly stock car? Mine will be dyno tuned soon. I'm thinking 180 is the right choice.

Thanks!

I don't see anything wrong with the temps you are seeing. I run my car on the track all the time. I have a racing radiator with built in engine oil cooler in my Z but still run the stock thermostat. The radiator keeps the engine cooler when running at WOT for 20 to 40 minute sessions but that is still with coolant temps around 220 so a lower thermostat really wouldn't help. These engines are designed to run at higher temps.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone wants to run cooler thermostats myself.

I have always run the stock 86'C thermostat, and I have a heavily modded 04 Z (442RWHP). Stick with the stocker, but program the fans to come on sooner

Pick up a Hypertech 160. Make sure you don't set you fans to early because our motors run best right around 190 degrees.

Here's my setting for Arizona. I'm usually right around 190 crusing.
