Well guys i received the news that i have a broken intake valve spring on my 03 zo6.Heres the scenerio i was driving home from my cousins house and everything is all good all of a sudden my car sounds like its misfiring and tuff to keep running at an idle.No spirited driving at all.My first thought is the maf so i searched the forum gathered as much info as i could and removed the maf and cleaned correctly ,started up same thing running ruff wont idle.I have the extended warranty on my car so in the dealership it goes ,received the call today that i have a broken valve spring. My question is ,isnt this odd for a stock zo6 im running a vararam cai and a catback,i have read that this usually happens to h/c vehicles ? is there any questions i should ask the dealer to look into, or should i have any other concerns Thanks

Not sure what year Z I have heard the 2002's were more prone to this.
Although rare it does happen. Good thing you didnt keep driving it. My buddy had one break on his 05 ls2, keeper came off, sucked a valve, KABLAMMMM time for a new motor.
Same thing about 2 years ago. Chevy tech told me it was a common issue with the older C5's, pre 2002. When they pulled my covers off I had 2 broken and 2 cracked ready to go. They replaced the whole set with the "new" springs. This is (still) my DD albeit I have hit the rev limiter on occasion.

Is this just a ZO6 issues or is this prone to LS1s also?

Apparently LS1s have had occurrences also .... see post #8 (in 1998 there was no Z06/LS6 engine around) and #4 (Old Rotor Head's profile say he has a 1999 coupe, which is LS1).
Odd mine would drive and idle fine. only indicators I had was some KR under slight load and at WOT it would feel like it was misfiring (but not throw a code). They were dual springs, the inner and outter broke on #2
