It depends what type of black wheels... all black, or just black centers, etc. I've been following wheel mods for a long time, but chrome has always been the champ until a few years ago. The ghetto-bling-bling crowd ruined chrome for the rest of us so we switched to black wheels with a polished lip to disassociate ourself with that ghetto-chrome crowd. More recently the style has become ALL black, but is slowly switching to comp gray for alot of OEM sports cars. Custom body colored wheels are becoming more popular, especially those with a black center. So whether you like black or not, they are more in style than chrome is at this moment. Sucks, but that's what the trend is for now.
Depends on the color of the car....Black wheels look "okay" on red, yellow, silver cars...or about any color other than black....I LOATHE the look of black wheels on a black car....To me, there needs to be contrast, whther it's a yellow, red, silver, blue, etc car with black wheels......But better yet, CHROME!!!!....To me, nothing looks better than chrome wheels on ANY color car...but when it comes to a black car...CHROME is the only way to go!!!!(Dont like the Unique Whips 22-24" chrome wheels though).......
Also, when it comes to interior colors, black exterior with ALL black interiors ONLY!!!!JMO
All of my "toys" are black with all black interiors and CHROME wheels!!!!

I am not a fan of the black wheel look, but I must admit that on some cars they really make the car look evil. The one thing I see is a great looking black car with a great shine and the black wheels and then the tires are dull, If you are going for the complete black look, you need to pay attention to the tires also.
An earlier post mentioned the large amount of the black wheels in the Tampa Bay area, and I to have noticed it as I live in that area.. They just don't look good on all cars.
I love mine but I think there are certain colors they don't work well with as they do with others. A lot of it goes to what look you're going for with your Vette.
