Default alarming problem

I got an expensive aftermarket alarm system (viper) installed but it's giving me problems. Whenever I get out of my car and arm the system the system detects somethings up and gives an extra beep after a few seconds. Then after a few more seconds the alarm starts ringing.

Every time I want to get out of my car and arm the alarm I have to wait for it to ring, then disarm it and re-arm it. It's getting quite frustrating.

Has anyone had a similar problem and how was it solved? I took it back to the installer but they could not figure it out. I'm going to try and get help from the directed electronics as well.

I'm guessing a "zone" isn't detected when you arm it and so the alarm goes off. Most will give you a diagnostic to show which zone wasn't detected? The diagnostic should be a series of lights flashing in a set pattern on the red led.

That's right.

I get out of my car and arm the system with the remote. The system chirps once and after three seconds chirps again. This tells me that the system is armed with Bypass Notification. During this time the LED flashes indicate zone 4 is involved- optional sensor inputs for warn away and full alarm notification. After a few more second the alarm starts ringing.

I can then disarm it with the remote and rearm it. Then the LED flashes once per second - which means normal operation. Only one chirp is heard when arming it this time which means this time it's working normally.

I took it back to the installer and they said the dome light was causing the problem. I'm wondering if it is the dome lights or perhaps the OEM alarm system, or a sensor problem. Any ideas?
