Default Vortex Rammer Cold Air System

I put this post up on the Tech forum but had no reply... so let me try here.

Has anyone here purchased and installed the Cold Air System, BPP Vortex Rammer that I see available from Eckler's? This product has peaked my interest but I would like to hear from others who have experience with it.

Is it difficult to install? Is the performance increase noticable? Any issues/concerns you know of with this product? Is the system complete or will I have to purchase any other parts to make it work?

I appreciate any and all input.

Mark

I used it before I went F.I. - Good product. Blows Vararam out of the water in terms of QUALITY, price, and ease of install, especially if you buy the pre-cut shroud.

It is a VERY quick install if you buy the pre-cut shroud.

It's also easy to service the filter. Loosen the clamp under hood, from the front of the car you can easily reach up into the box and pull out the filter. I went with the clear box so I could see the filter.

There are the Vararam honks who will swear it offers the best performance. Whatever. The Vortex works quite well, and even if it does perform a little less it also doesn't have the history of fitment and quality problems, costs less even with the pre-cut shroud, and is a MUCH quicker and easier install. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

But you might also want to consider making your own CAI out of stock parts and just a new filter for $30 or so.

Performance was noticeable, especially when my first c5 got wrecked and I drove the new one around without the Vortex for 3 weeks.

Vortex is sold and made by Breathless Performance down here in South Florida. Ernie is a sponsor over on the left side of the page. Give him a call.

I used the Vortex system for 3 years in my car and it performs great. There are no issues that I ever had with the Vortex system, it does exactly as described. You do have to cut your shroud but it's a real easy mod. The Vortex system is just that, a complete system. Nothing else needed.

I am currently running the VARARAM system. I drag race and for my specific application, the Vararam is better suited for me. Install of the Vararam is no big deal either so long as you know what your doing.

Good Luck your on the right track.

Bob

How often do you clean the filter and what's the procedure for cleaning? Thanks
