Okay, i am looking at a stock c5 torch red vette with 80k miles on it. I am also looking at my buddies trans am with 63k miles on it.
The trans am has a fully forged/blueprinted motor with a mild cam, LT headers, patriot heads, fast 90, 373 gear, brand new rear end etc... the car is pretty much bulletproof and is making around 430 rwhp.
Both cars are in amazing shape and i just cant decide on which way to go. I know this is a vette forum but the trans am is 4k cheaper and has alot more goodies under the hood.

I have both and they are 2 different beasts, You can't compare the 2, They both have a place in my garage for sure, You have to decide what you want, There is no way the Pontiac will handle like the Vette. Also the Vette is an American Icon. If all I was into was 1/4 mile it would be the Trans-Am.
I also must add, If one was to go it would be the Pontiac...

Before my brother talked me into a C5, I had owned 2 Trans-Ams, the last was a 88-Trans-Am, GTA, hell of a car, I enjoyed it, but should have made the move over to Corvette sooner, oh well, better late than never. My story.....
You're stuck bro, but most everyone is going to vote C5. It's a Corvette forum.
the trans am is a 99 as well. I was already leaning towards the vette just because it looks amazing. It looks like the day it rolled of the showroom floor.
Personally, I'd go with the C5, but if you want a Trans Am, then I think you'd be better off with a stock or lightly modded one.
I learned a while back to be very cautious about buying someone elses heavily modified car. I've played that game before and lost a lot of money. You never know exactly how well the work has been done or the quality of the parts involved...no matter what the seller says! That, and nonstandard parts can be a pain to locate when they break.
i have a friend with a vette and he hasnt ran into serious problems yet and it is still fairly reliable. its an 02z and has around 150k miles on it and counting.
the trans am i know has been dogged 24/7. the vette is owned by a 65year old lady who rarely drives it... and she is the original owner. I didnt know 65year old ladies drove 6spd's
i guess it is a little one sided here but you guys have helped me make up my mind
