Default 98 Interior carpet replacement.

Just curious. I'm thinking about updating my interior carpets. They're starting to look worn on the driver's side. My problem is, I have a hard time justifying the price. From what I've seen so far, I'll probably need to spend about a grand if I go to Ecklers or some place similar. I can carpet a small apartment for that price. I assume the expense is due to the replacements being molded. Has anyone replaced their interior carpets using a local shop/custom installer? If so, what was your experience? Do you like the fitment? How about the price - is it comparable? Anyone have an alternative solution.
Thanks.

No direct help but I recently helped my son replace the carpet in his Mustang with online car carpet stuff. It sucked big time, no way you would use it your Vette. Big bunched up areas, it was molded alright and kinda fit but not Vette quality. Shop wisely.
