what to do..my friend purchased a 2004 c5 from a dealer in 2005 with a clean car fax reported and advertised..he also pulled the report himself at the time of purchase to satisfy himself and the report was 100 percent which he has a copy...today he is selling the car and wanted to have a carfax copy available to any new owners..guess what...the car fax came back with a record of an accident which occured 5 months before he bought it in 2005 but was not reported on carfax until march 2008 almost 3 years later...anybody heard of this and what should he do..carfax has been contacted today but will have to wait till monday or later ...what would you folks do.

Did he ever keep the original carfax? If so, I'd provide that when he sells the car. If he doesn't, looks like he's SOL.
Not really much can be done. It's possible it IS a mistake. I was stupid when I bought my car and never even bothered to ask. Found out later the car was damaged (not salvaged) but was involved in an accident. The car rides fine, but I wish I hadn't found out.
Anyway, if it's not a mistake he's going to have to eat it.
Not sure if this will hel. Its off there website. I would start by contacting car fax. I am sure the dealer will not do anything, but he will have to call both. If you don't try you never know.
