Default New tire pressure sensor will not program

Had to replace rear tire pressure sensor due to broken valve stem. Order one off ebay, when it came could not get it to program.
(Followed steps off of forum, used large maget) Other three tires would
program fine. Sent sensor back and order one thru local tire store. This one would not program either. Tried a larger magnet no difference. I can still get old sensor to program, but not a new one.

Bad luck with sensors????? Or anyone have any ideas.

Hate to take it to stealership, but running out of ideas.

are yiu sure it is the right pn? There are 2 different styles, and they are not interchangable. Do the new ones look the same as the broken ones?

Take the tire to the driver side rear quater panel.

That is where the relay/sensor is...

You still have to do them in order...

Peace

It was the sensor for 97-00 , looked the same as old one.
I will try moving valve stem to top of rear fender. Its the
rear driver side that will not program.

Then it's wrong or bad.

You only need to get it close...
If it's the Ds Rear, than it's plenty close...

Peace

I think most decent garages will have a reset tool, we have one and I reprogramed mine in no time, I don't think that magnet trick works.

A good magnet works, but sometimes you have to try 5 x, I also had a bad sensor, swapped it out and now its fine, u may have gotten 2 bad ones.

While I agree tht you need to use a srong enough magnet, this guy can reprogram the other 3 sensors - it is only the one he's having troubles with. I use a magnet on a stick - the kind you get at a hardware store to pick up screws and nails - it has worked fine for years, so the 'magnet trick' can work. As Chip mentioned, the drivers side rear is the closest to the receiver, so it should be the easiest location to program.

germanc5, try programming this particular wheel to another position just to see what happpens. By this I mean when you start into the programming sequence, and it asks for the LF - put your magnet on this one you're having trouble with and see if it programs to the LF. If it does program we know that the sensor is working. I guess you could have run into 2 bad sensors, but the odds are not very good that you would.
