Default Please Help, Need Advice

Hey guys! Come next spring I will be looking for my next car hopefully. I just graduated from college and am considering a Vette. Ive owned two Mustangs, my last 01 Gt with a procharger and a bunch of other mods that made 410hp. Im now debating on switching to a vette, since I worked at the BG Assy. Plant for three years and spent one year as an intern I still have a few questions for you guys.

Im primarily looking at C5 manuals.
Any bad years to advoid? Differences between 97-04? Which gear ratios are available? How do the Ls1 or Ls6 hold up under boost? I know the T-56's are pretty stout but what about the rear ends and halfshafts?
Pretty much school me on the basic performance platforms. Im probably not going to be looking into the Z car due to the cost so Ill just keep it to the coupes. Im very thankful that you guys purchase these cars, you have kept a shirt on my back, a roof over my head and food on my table (since my mother works at the plant). Any help is appreciated.

You can find a lot of the info you want here:

You can go to about 500 to 550 rwhp with boost with stock motor. Beyond that it is time to move up to a forged motor.

You will also have to fortify the drive train starting with a new clutch.
