Headlight assistance needed!
I have an '02 Coupe that the has a headlight malfunction and not sure if I need a new headlight, a motor or ...? The lid opens and closes without any problem but when the lid closes the motor keeps running. It makes a horrible noise for about 15-20 seconds, then will shut off. When I first had issues with this same headlight the lid would open but not close. I had to manually crank it shut. When bumped around a bit it started working fine and has continued to work until now. I am a woman with some mechanical know-how but this is way out of my league. Please advise as I do not want to spend money on replacing the wrong thing.

It's likely that you need a new gear in your headlight motor. See attached link.

Sounds like you have a gear in the motor gone bad, Very common on the C5s, GM used plastic gears in them and they just don't last.
There is a brass gear fix you can get to fix it, I did it on my WS6 and it works just fine,

Thanks to both of you, Bill K and coxjajb! I am new to the forum as of tonight and figured out the search after I logged my question. I have several issues with my car and was told this site is a wealth of information. Boy is it!!! Thanks again.
