Clear Tail Lights

The real problem running a lens like this (clear) is the DOT rule that the rear of ANY motor vehicle MUST have RED REFLECTORS on the rear.
Vehicle mfg typically put those reflectors in the tail light lens. Now with this change any of us on the street that might be prone to getting pulled over need to find another way to satisfy the DOT.
I have driven MANY times even with the local Sheriff on my rear with ZERO issue

I live in the Land of Oz as well. Had a Kansas State Trooper following me on I-35 the other day. He passes me on the left, turns and give me the thumbs up! I don't have anything to hide, so I'm not too worried if they decide to shake me down

Here's the Kansas statute:
Vehicle Lighting
Lights visible to the front of a vehicle must be white to amber. On vehicles manufactured prior to July 1, 1973, the front turn signals may emit a white light. The front turn signals of all newer vehicles must emit an amber light. Kansas registered vehicles are prohibited from being equipped with tinted/non-transparent headlamp covers.
Lights visible to the rear of a vehicle must be amber to red, with the exception of the registration and back-up lamps. Every vehicle must have a white light illuminating the vehicle's rear license tag when the headlamps and tail lamps are activated. Reflectors visible from the rear of a vehicle must be red.
Lights and reflectors visible from the side of a vehicle must be amber toward the front of the vehicle and red toward the rear of the vehicle.
Someone is going to point out the line about reflectors. The language does not require you to have reflectors, just that they be red if you so choose.

When I first performed this mod last year many interpreted the DOT rule in different ways.
Personally I agree with you and many LEOS said they were not even familiar with the DOT rules.
HOWEVER many others here have pointed out the red reflector rule which I ALWAYS INCLUDE when I discuss these lenses. I feel it is in the best interest of the end user to interpret the rule as THEY SEE FIT.

they were found to be illegal. Production stopped with very few actually made.
These were JUST THE LENS not the housing. You simply smash your existing red lens, dremel clean the housing and silicone and clamp new lenses in place for a day or so.
I only know of approximately 1/2 dozen members here that got them.
