Default Z06 brake Ducts

Does anyone know where to get them and how the install goes for a 00' C5 also do they actually make a difference? If anyone has a pair left and right I am looking to purchase. Thanks

Several of the supporting vendors sells them or you can check the C5 parts for sale section to see if anyone has some. Here is the tech article I followed to install mine.

Picked up mine at cost plus 10 from my local Chevy dealer. Contat Gene @ GMPARTSHOUSE, his prices are fair.

Very easy to install, I did mine in no time. Do they make a difference? How could they not? Plus, they look bad ***. If any Z06 driver gives you grief (since GM only put them on Z06's) ask him what the difference is between C5 non Z06 and Z06 brakes.

Beautiful job, Jason!

Lime, this is from Wikipedia (take it for what it's worth):

Air scoops on the rear rocker panels that funnel air to the rear brakes for better cooling. Z06 rear brake temperatures are reduced by as much as 10% under competition conditions; brake fade and wear are also greatly reduced.

I'll refer to my post in the Z06 forums about non-Z06's using Z06 parts... and mind you, this is just my opinion and we know what opinions are like

I agree with the sentiment that adding upgrades to a base coupe or convert, whether they came from a C5Z or a C6, is fine as long as they're functional and do not attempt to create, and the owner does not attempt to create, the illusion that it actually is a Z06.

On my C5 coupe I have C5Z06 wheels. I like the look, and they were wider, affordable, and gave me the opportunity to put more rubber on the road than the magnesium 5-spokes that were on the car. In the future I plan on upgrading to C6Z wheels and wider rear quarters so I can run C6Z brakes. I'll likely add C5Z rear brake ducts. Possibly C6Z51 bars in conjunction with C5Z shocks and springs.

These are functional upgrades. They're Corvette parts, IMHO, and as long as 1)they fit my car and enhance its performance, and 2)are not badged as Z06 where one would ever confuse my car for something that it is not, then I'm OK. I've done nothing more than make my car better than it was.

If it didn't come off the assembly line with Z06 on the fender, it should never ever say Z06 on the fender, or anywhere else. To put badges on something that is "less" just to create an illusion is as "ricer" and tasteless as it comes.

If you try to rationalize it by saying "well, it's got every single part a Z06 came with, I basically built a Z06" - sorry, still a poser. If you want a coupe or convertible Z06, buy a Z06 and convert it. Please don't take offense, but me personally I've never warmed to or liked the FRC body style, and likely won't ever own one because of that. I like the line of the coupe with the rear hatch glass much better (and yes, I understand the reasons behind the Z06 being what it is - I'm a licensed road racer, I understand that). So I'll stick to building my coupe into what is basically a "C5Z06+" under the skin- but it will never ever say "Z06" anywhere on it. Cause it ain't.
That being said, in my opinion, if you wanna put parts on your non-Z06 C5 that came from any other car, go right ahead. As long as you don't represent it as being something that it is not, you're not doing anything wrong in my book and anyone who has the nerve to have a problem with it is most likely an arrogant jerk and not worth your time or worry.

Many times you'll find the people looking down on you are just as guilty, and have C6 parts on their C5 somewhere!

I have Z06 sway bars too. Screw the added performance. I'm just trying really hard to pass it off as a Z06.

Funny because my car does not have Z06 badges, the original poster does not have Z06 badges, and no one is talking about putting them on.

Have some

Bottom line is its your car you can do with it whatever you want,But remember this must be a sensitive subject to you since you had to post a seperate EXPLANATION using the zo6 parts, i think its a beautiful thing you want to UPGRADE the performance of your vehicle. The arrogant jerk comment i dont understand?? IMO rear brake ducts just dont look right on a coupe, but if you are using the mod as a performance upgrade more power to you again its your choice, these upgrades to your car im sure are a conversation starter, if you choose to do these upgrades then you have to deal with the whys and the questions that follow with that said good luck to you and your cars future plans... as far as road racing goes the rear brakes dont demand that much cooling its the fronts that get 75% of the load and need ducting

It's super easy, just wear a face mask, the dust isn't lung friendly.

Everyone has their own taste, but I would never modify any car to "emulate" another car. It's just poor taste in my book - but I wish you all the best if you disagree.
