Default c6 interior vs. c5 interior...

Am I wrong, or does the C6 interior smack much more of a "conventional" passenger car, while the C5 interior seems much more like the cockpit of a fighter plane?

I sat in a C6 the other day, and although I didn't drive the car, all I kept thinking was, THIS is a corvette? I guess I'm too used to my C5...

Lots of people said the same thing about the C4. How the C4 seemed more like a cockpit setup compared to the C5.

My wife's C6 drives like a "conventional" car especially with the A6 with the paddleshifters. Almost never drive it with the paddles and just drive it like a regular car although it does have a nice "kickdown" when needed. Problem with the paddles is that you forget to use it once you're in the paddleshift mode. Nothing like reving the hell out of it and wondering why it doesn't shift up. Oh you need to SHIFT it yourself

For me, it's not just about the C6 being "conventional", it's more about the use of that cheapo looking silver coated plastic and totally uninspired styling....and the textured black plastic too.....while the C5's dash is not actually made of expensive materials, it at least appears more so than the C6.

Personally, I think the designers overall missed what could have been a great styling transition to the C6. Instead of improving the look of the C5, they almost started over......and failed in some areas....the interior being one.

I think the C6's interior is head and shoulders above the C5's.

I agree. When it comes to the exterior, I'm squarely in the C5.5 school of thought when it comes to the C6. They are similar enough that most people (non-Corvette types) don't know if they're looking at a new Corvette or the previous model. The interior is a different story. It's one of the biggest downsides to C5 ownership. The C6 interior looks a lot better in my opinion.

Well, if anyone really does not like their C6 interior.. just give it to me. I'll be glad to "take that ugly thing off your hands"!

Personally, I like the C6 interior. I like the C5 interior. I like the lines of the C5 exterior more, but I like some of the features of the C6 exterior more then the C5. What I don't like about either, I can probably change over time anyway.

Default wow pretty surprised.

well I must say Iam a little different in thought I guess to most of you. I love the C5 interior and believe it or not thats one of the main reasons I have not even thought of trading up to the C6. I had the opportunity to sit in quite a few of them, (including the ZR1) and honestly....its just not for me. I definitely prefer the C5. Its just balanced and looks "sporty". The C6 to me is definitely more...plain jane and I just can't get beyond looking at that passanger side non glovebox airbag thing. So reminds me of the days of the 80's C4's "crashpad" that served no purpose and just looked hideous. Sorry just to me this looks like a big fat bubble and doesn't go with the car. The car needs more lines on the dash...more streamline less "bubbly". I mean to each their own. Everybody is going to have their opinion. Guess I just like "sleek and sporty". Its what sold me on the C5. I love the interior!

I agree. I think the overall interior of the C5 is sleeker than the C6, however the C6 has more options such as leather trim around the console, carbon fiber trim options and OEM NAV, etc.

I friend of mine who also owns a C5, just upgraded his interior with a Vette Essential overhaul, added a DD NAV system and installed the GM 08 Carbon Fiber look center console. It really looks good and helped me scratch my C6 itch.

I drove a C6 vert ('07) for about 1500 miles two years ago and I really had no complaints about the interior. Felt and looked just fine to me.

There's aspects of the C6 interior I like more than the C5, and vice versa. I wouldn't trade my C5 Sport Seats for a C6 seat by any means, but I LOVE how the C6 center stereo section has the stereo and HVAC units flush mounted. The C5's grab bar is a nice break up to a big dash, the C6 is just too plain.

Very well said...I must agree....I think the grab bar definitely helps.

Who needs the nave system? If you get a little lost in the vette, it is just a chance to discover a new road!

I will keep my C5, It feels more spartan to me. Like it should.

^^IMHO, the C6 has a much nicer interior than the C5. The seats are also better too.

As I own a 99 Coupe and 09 Coupe, the C6 is really a C 5 1/2 in my book, a mid generation upgrade as they do in Honda's and Toyota's. The seats are better, the ride is better, the 09 turns better (variable steering), better headlights, more power from the factory and less rattles. I love my C5, but I really do enjoy driving our C6 and have 3k on the clock in 6 weeks so I have put our new Vette through the paces
