Default Run flat repair

In the case of an ordinary puncture can a run flat be plugged/repaired like an ordinary tire?

Yes, but you may want to have it patched by a pro at a later date.

Can plug as a temporary fix, but the correct long term fix specified by Goodyear, is to have tire removed from the rim, and install a combination plugg/pactch, which kind of looks like a mushroom.

Had a patch done and was told the it negates the speed rating of the tire.

Goodyear claims that by using a normal plug, you lose the speed rating on the tire. Even by using the mushroom plug for a third time, supposedly, you lose the speed rating.

Goodyear states the proper way to repair a run flat tire is to plug and patch it.

, but replace them when they are shot with regular tires. Way better ride and handling. I carry a compressor, compact jack and a plug kit. After the temp fix I have the flat professionaly fixed by a pro shop with the plug/patch kit.

They can be repaired, but be sure the shop uses the plug and patch method. I had several of mine done this way and never had a program with them.
