Well maybe kind of an upgrade, i won't mention the vendor i purchased from since i place all blame on myself for not paying closer attention, it was actually clearly represented. I took the lazy way out and ordered them instead of paying half price at a hardware store etc. but that's not what bothers me, I just didn't pay attention and realize the screws are not torx they're Phillips, which to me don't look right, i only did one and maybe I'll change my mind when i see a whole section done, I started under the hood and have them for the door jambs and rear hatch as well. Any thoughts?
I bought all of mine ridiculously cheap at a local hardware store. I've only completed the door jams and trunk area so far, but I really like how it turned out. I used chrome washers with black screws to match my car exterior/wheels.
There are no stainless TORX screws available at any source I've found. If McMASTER-CARR doesn't have them, no one does.
That's why everyone elects to use the stainless Phillips screws, hardware variety or in bulk from a supplier.
You might be able to find chrome TORX screws from some vendors. Or just buy them bulk in black oxide and have them chromed.

I actually purchased the "deal" from the supplier for around the front fenders under the hood, the rear hatch, and the door jams. Hood and trunk area turned out nice, but the door jam screws would not work, they take a different size from the others. Sent an email to the vender explaining same, they did not respond. That was the first and last time for me with that vendor.
I spent a lot of time looking for Torx screws in stainless before settling on philips for my kits.

They probably sent you 3/4 screws instead of 1" screws.
I went with the Phillips and did the under the hood section, the door jambs, and the trunk. Getting to the screws by the trunk, up near the top on both sides was a lot of fun. I had to use a goose neck to get in there!
One tip: don't over-tighten. I broke a screw off doing the hood section and had to drill it out. A real PIA.
I've reported this before. McMASTER-CARR does sell what they refer to as a stainless pin in TORX tamper resistant sheet metal screw in various lengths and sizes. They're available in flat head (countersunk) or button head. You can also buy various types of stainless washers. The screw uses a special TORX bit (T10 or T15) with a hole in the center to accommodate the pin. As an example, a box of 18-8 stainless 3/4" long #6 is $10.50 (x25)
