Just thought I would let you guys know what I found out last week when I installed my new rims/tires with new sensor.
Here are the weights according to my digital people scale. Front rims - CCW 505a (18x10) with 275/35/18 Nitto Invo tires are 52 lbs each (stock chrome spoke with stock size Bridgestone pole position (well worn) 48.5 lbs.
Rear rims - CCW 505a 19 x 11.5 with 305x30x19 Nitto Nivo tires 59.5 lbs each (stock chrome spoke with stock size Bridgestone pole position worn down even to the tread wear indicator 51 lbs.
I think the 505a are the heaviest rim that CCW sells (very thick spokes) but I could be wrong. And I bet new Bridgestone tires would be 2 or 3 lbs heaver each.
I love my new rims and tires. The Nitto’s are so quiet and seem to handle very well. I did notice how much better my steering is now. Before it would wonder around and follow every rut in the road. It was really a handful.
I really have not pushed them yet but I can tell they are much better than what I had before (which was worn out). I am very happy with my choice (only took me two years to buy them too!).
Thanks. I looked at many different tire/wheel combos and they were nice (and much cheaper) but I would never be quit happy unless I went with the best. Ever since I first saw my first set of 505a's on a c5 four years ago I fell in love with them and IMO none are better. So 4 weeks ago I said to may self "why settle for less". Plus I can always sell them here on the CF someday (not any day soon so NO PM's) and recoup most of my money anyways.
