Default 2000 Vette with top end noise

32k miles on my 2000 vette.. making noise on top end. Noticed it when cold, goes away when warm and when increasing idle. Thought at first it was a lifter but heard injectors sometimes make noise...thought I read a cold start injector could make noise??? Doesn't appear to be the belt tension pulley. Appreciate the input.

LS-1 are notorious for piston slap. Sounds a lot like a slight tap or knock when cold and disappears when warmed up. Try a can or two of BG44K in a tankful of fuel. It might go away if it's piston slap.

If it is piston slap, mine has done it from day one. Live with it, it won't hurt anything.

Default Mine too

Sounds exactly like my 2000 vert. Don't worry about it, it's pretty normal in these cars.

There's a sound clip on pistonslap.com that you can compare to the sound you're hearing - if yours sounds like that, then it may be piston slap.

Ditto on my 2000 Vert.. Annoying as hell, but goes away when warm and mine uses no oil whatsoever at 70M.

Ditto on almost all my LS1 cars that have had 80K or up. My personal Vette is a Twin Turbo with 60K and it does not do it.

My 2K has it too. Most Corvette mechanics I talked to says it's no big deal. I would like to know more about that BG44K though. BTW, my car has ~ 55K miles on the clock.

I googled it. I don't see how cleaning the fuel system will help with piston slap?
http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

BG 44K®
BG 44K® Power Enhancer®
BG 44K® Power Enhancer® safely, rapidly and thoroughly removes engine deposits in combustion chambers, intake manifolds, ports and on valves. It restores flow in fuel injectors and cleans the entire fuel system. BG 44K® Power Enhancer® improves fuel economy and reduces exhaust emissions. It restores that “like new” driveability to an engine’s performance and keeps it running better, longer and more efficiently. Add one can or bottle to fuel tank at fill up. Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor safe. NOTE: After cleanup with BG 44K® Power Enhancer,® regular use of BG Supercharge®II, Part No. 202, in gasoline engines or BG Diesel Fuel Conditioner with DPL, Part No. 2276, in diesel engines will prevent deposits from forming in the fuel system and upper engine for maximum driveability and fuel economy.
Part No. 208
Part No. 208A 11 oz. (325 mL) can
11 oz. (325 mL) bottle
