Owning a C5 vette..........
I was in the process of changing out my exhaust but had to wait for some different clamps to arrive. I though, what the heck, I'll see if I can fix the clunky butt, change the differential fluid and replace the fuel filter while I have it up in the air. I think I took care of the clunky butt, I hope. I drained the diff fluid and it looked really good. I'll have to hit the parts house tomorrow for some new fluid and a pump. I had to remove the exhaust I just installed to get to the fuel pump but I had to do that anyway to change the clamps out, so no big deal. That fuel filter ate my lunch!
I thought I had the proper tools to release the fuel lines but found they were the wrong ones. I got it done but it took most of the afternoon to get the outlet line off the filter. The others were a piece of cake.
There just isn't much room up there for a fat fingered old fart like me. If your thinking about buying a vette and it needs maintenance, you'd better be damned handy and innovative, or, have a ton of disposable cash to spend at a shop. I love working on mine and I've learned a lot.
I'm sure I'll be learning a whole lot more over time. If it were not for the abundance of guidance and information I've gleened from this forum, I'd be screwed, and broke.....
Thanks to all of you!

I don't know if our rinky-dink parts house will have such a thing, but I guess I can order it.
Thanks, again...........

Got-r-done and man does it sound saaaaweeeeet!
It actually sounds like a Corvette is supposed to. The post on how to get rid of the clunky butt worked and worked well. Asolutely no more clunking shifting from nuetral to drive or reverse. The right hand axle nut was a little loose, it seemed. Our illustrious parts house only had Valvoline Syn Power full synthetic 75W-90 gear oil. Says it's for limited slip differentials, so I'll see how it works. Valvoline product are usually pretty good.

And as I mentioned above, be careful about blindly adding a bottle of the anti-slip fluids. Many fluids today, including the new GM Dexron LS diff fluid come with the limited slip additive in it already.
