[Z06] Ripper Install question?
A) such as a way to reduce noise I here about?
B) such as a way to reduce any vibration I here about?
C) or,just install it as per instructions and rip away!
By the way does this damage the rods I here about sometimes happening w/other shifters?

Good luck with it! ;)
I will replace the shift **** when I find something I like. I'm thinking about a regular ball made out of the same plastic as bowling *****. That material should lessen the vibration. Anyone know of a place to get something like this? I don't need the shift pattern on the ****. I think I can remember!!!
Parts list:
Self-adhesive Dynamat ("Ultra"-I think)- I got mine at Circuit City 1 ft^2
Teflon Tape (plumbers tape): Home Depot
A 1/2" circle of foam-Like weatherstripping foam
1. Once the Rubber Mat/Isolator is removed from the car, lay it out on the dynamat. Trace around the isolator with a marker. Cut out, make appropriate hole for the shifter. Remove Dynamat backing and affix to the top side of the isolator. You have now added some extra insulation.
2. Before installing the Boot/****...wrap the threads with 2 layers of Teflon Tape. Some of the infamous rattle is due to vibration in the stock ****. You can skip this step if installing an aftermarket ****.
Make sure you have now installed the Rubber Pad (with Dynamat) and the included Ripper Boot/Retainer. Cut a 1/2" x 10" strip of the Dynamat. Wrap the shaft of the Ripper with the Dynamat like you were wrapping a golf club. This will kill most of the resonance.
3. Install your **** on the shifter. Turn it all the way down. Does it get to the bottom and not end up straight? If you must loosen slightly (shifter can be wiggled), or tighten to the point of risking stripping the **** proceed to step 4.
4. Re-wrap threads with Teflon Tape. Place small circle of foam on top of shifter. Install the **** over the foam. It should now be tight and straight ahead. You may need to trim away a little of the foam in order to insert the shifter pin.
Good Luck
