Daughter was born on September 25. Doesn't make sense anymore to have the wife's car, my truck, and the Corvette. I bought this car with big plans to keep it forever. Only has 45k miles on it. There is always time for another car. My daughter is a once in a lifetime event ya know.
That's EXACTLY my situation... except we had a son... and I was already 4 years into my payments... My friends were teasing me that I "had" to sell the Vette. I said, It's no longer MY car to sell, it's HIS. 3 payments left and it's all mine! (ours)
Besides, you can save a MINT on food if she breastfeeds. My son is a year old on 30 Oct. He seems happy about the car so far...
Damage looks identical to when my buddy put a little too much gas into his and managed to smack a curb. If you still have it next spring I'll buy it. :P
that rear bumper is very fixable. I have done alot of them without a problem of cracking back out. If you get a different bumper and have to paint the whole thing yellow it is never gonna match without blending the quarter panels. Will look a ton better repaired and only having to spray color on the repaired area. Rocker can be fixed from the outside pretty easily too. I would shop around that estimate is kinda high I think
700 billion no 5 trillion! oh sorry wrong problem Actually i've had several front and real bumbers removed, (three sons driving) and repeared and reinstalled for under 500. or less each time.
I don't want to get in trouble with Mods because this isn't the for sale forum. In the next day or two I'll get it up in the cars for sale forum.
The $2400 estimate was for a new OEM rear bumper painted to match, new brake duct, and rocker panel repaired and everything blended.
My options are limited because there are only a few body shops in my area that will work on Corvettes.
I was going to get a new cam a while back and shopped around a price to install and several mechanics straight up told me no they wouldn't work on a Corvette.

Why is there only a few body shops that will work on your corvette. Not trying to get off subject just curious
An autocrossing buddy went off course and hit a tire wall. it cracked the front bumper on his '03 Coupe. I suggested he take it to the Chevy dealer that is our club's sponsor. Their body shop removed it repaired it and resprayed it for $400 +tax.
I had the same thing happen to me. While I was in Japan, my brother drove my 300ZX Twin. When I came back, the front quarter panel was busted up. He told me "the valet did it", but I found out he hit a pole going through a late night Jack-In-The-Box drivethru

The body shop I took it to is the one that the local Chevy dealer uses because they don't have an in house body shop.
Oh, by the way they offered me $14,600 for a trade in. For a 2002 Z06 with 45k miles. Perfect interior. Great exterior minus the damage. And the estimate from THIER OWN body shop for $2400 to fix it with an OEM new rear bumper. If I'm paying $2400, I can bet they would pay closer to around $1800 to get it all fixed, then turn around and put it out for $23,000.
Ok, so assuming my 2002 Z06 is in better-than-average shape with 45k miles, and the cost to repair the damage is now $2k, is $19,000 a fair asking price if I put it on the private party block?
Any dealers out there know what I SHOULD get on a trade-in?

My bro picked up a 2001 Z06 w/56K on the clock that was highly modified with both motor and suspension work including BB kit for $22,900 a month or two ago.
A good sale price for your car would be around $17.5K as the new owner would bear all risk for repairs.
