Default C5 Window Problem

Hello All,

This is my first post and let me tell you this forum is sweet! I wish I found this 4 months ago before I spent $400 to fix the door actuator/relay.
Here is the new problem: Everytime I lower the passenger side window completely down you can here it rattle inside the door. Once it starts to go up it seems fine but when it is completely down it is not sitting right. 2001 C5 Coupe. Is this an easy fix? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the glass travels too far down into the window track.
I think there's a stop adjustment you can make, but you'll probably need to remove the door panel to get to it. Here's a link that takes you through the door panel removal process.

I had a problem where when the window was down it rattled over every bump. What it turned out to be was the window tilt adjustment assembly - the locking nut had come loose. All I did to fix it was pull off the reflector on the door, and tighten the locking nut. HTH....

Was the reflector difficult to take off? Thank you all for your help!

No, if I remember you gently pry the bottom out then slide it out. There is a picture in this thread - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...er-window.html

There is also an adjustment at the front of the door. Pry off the rubber boot on the bottom front of the door. It also has a lock nut on it that may be loose. Both of these adjustments affect the tilt of the window in or out.

This board comes through again. I have exactly the same rattle and this week I was greeted with a soaking wet seat after it rained. The seat usually got wet during a wash, but I figured it was just the angle of the hose. It turns out that the two problems are probably related.

I popped the reflector off the door, reached in the panel and sure enough I could spin that bolt with my finger! I tightened it down and took the car for a test drive. The rattle with the window down has now disappeared and the whistling nose from the corner of the window with the window up has also stopped.

I guess I didn't stop to think that the window rattle and water/air leaks from the corner of the window were related. I'm going to wash the car on Sunday and see if the water leak issue has been addressed.

I checked the tip in adjustment and the nut behind the reflector but everthing was correct. I then removed the door panel and three nuts with fixed washers fell out. Apparently the last time I brought in my vette (about a month ago) to have the door module changed they forgot to put back or tighten the window motor mount bolts. I am not sure if that is the motor but whatever it is was just sitting on the bottom of the door. As soon as I mounted it and tightened the nuts the window worked perfectly. I am VERY glad that the window did not scratch or even break! Thank you all for your help!! I think I will stop bringing it to the dealership from now on...
