I bought a 2004 Z06 a few weeks ago and I noticed that CAGS is not locking out 2nd. Under light acceleration in 1st I get the shift 1 to 4 light, but I can easily just put it right into 2nd. The previous and only owner said he did not put a CAGS bypass on the car. Is there any way I can check to see if the CAGS bypass is installed? With the CAGS bypass will the shift 1 to 4 light still come on? Thanks,
Yes, the light will still come on with the bypass installed. A visual inspection of the transmission will reveal if it was done. Curious about the prior owner saying it wasn't installed.
As am I. What exactly should I look at to see if the CAGS eleminator has been installed? The car is pretty low, and I can barely stick my head under there as it is. Any pictures to point me in the right direction as to where to look?
You will have to jack up the car your head is as fat as mine Look on the drivers side of the tans and there should be a plug with nothing plugged into it. There shouls be a plug on part of the harness near by that a dummy plug on it. It should be zip tied to a tab on the trans next to the spot where it should plug in. Hope this helps. It does sound like it has one on it.
I had one installed that stopped working after 2 years. I took it apart and there was no resistor in it, just a plug of silicone. I soldered a resistor in place and put it back together and working fine now. This is one I had bought.
