Default Damn electrical gremlin

Coming home from my brother's house last night, my headlight started dimming when I turn the turn signal. Also, the radio lights and HVAC also started to dim in and out. I searched the forum and found out many cause. Main thing is the battery. Just got the damn thing 10 months ago! Any other suggestions?

Check if your battery terminals are tight, if you can rotate them by hand, they are too loose. Be careful, if you tighthen them too tight, you can cause battery to leak acid.

Then check the nuts on the starter for tightness.

Good luck.

Check and clean ALL the grounds on the car!

if this is happening while the car is running, isn't it the alternator that is suppling power at that point?

Bad connections can prevent a good battery from getting fully charged and delivering full power. As mentioned in other posts first clean and tighten the battery connections and clean the grounds. Check the battery voltage with the engine off. it should be between 11.5 to 13.0 volts. With the engine up to operating temperature turn on the ac and headlights. The battery voltage should be between 12 and 16 volts. If your readings are not in these ranges have the battery and alternator checked.

Thanks! I'll check the ground and connection. It was worse when I turned the ac on while driving. I just noticed it because it was at night and my headlight started dimming when I hit my turn signal.

Default Hope this helps

Here is a link to a VERY useful sticky in C5 Tech.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...tion-long.html
I cleaned the front ground point plugs and it solved my gremlin problem.
In reference to the battery terminals, be careful. I have read some posts where the depth of the threaded holes in some batteries were too short for the cable bolts. The bolts get tight (because they bottom out) but the cables still move (and lose connection).
Good luck.
