I purchased a 2003 ZO6 with 14,000 miles in August. I live in Western New York and the winter weather has arrived. I check the Dex-Cool antifreeze last evening to determine the freezing point and it is good to 20 below "0". I have heard that Dex-Cool antifreeze is very corrosive and that many owners have changed to the older type of antifreeze. Are there any members that have changed their antifreeze from the Dex-Cool antifreeze?

Thanks for any advise!

It's not corrosive, on the contrary it is longer lasting than the green. I have it in 2 chev's with combined miles of 100k & it's fine.
I heard Dex-Cool is very corrisive. I know cadillac has had problems with dex-cool and intake manifold gaskets failing. Also heard other GM intake gasket problems. I changed the vette after 5 years per my cadillac mechanic friend's advice.

Thats bull, the problems some had with gaskets was the gaskets problem, not Dexcool. Just changed the Dexcool first time in my 6 yr old '03 Z06, clear as can be. I installed Dexcool in my 92 LT1 Corvette in 1996, just after Dexcool came out. Just changed it for the first time last weekend, clean and no corrosion, 30,000 miles and 12 years in car. Original hoses too, been raced in Silver State Classic 5 times. I gotta say I am pleased with Dexcool.

Its friggin antifreeze. Spend $20 a year and change it if there is concern of it being bad over a few years. It ain't rocket science.
I just changed mine after 42K miles and 5 years and it still looked brand new and when I tested for electrolysis it was also fine. I wouldn't have even changed it cept I swapped out the thermostat and lost most of it anyway.
