Default New...CCW classics???

Hi, I am new this is my first post. I am 18 and currently a senior in high school and I am getting my dads 2000 coupe for graduation and cant wait. We are planning to do some mods to the car soon. I would really appreciate any input on wheel and tire selections and sizes. I am currently thinking about black CCW classics the car is torch red and with Pilot Sport 2s. Can anyone give me some input on tire and wheel sizes or even what tires.

Thanks,
Robert

There is a section on the forum for wheels and tires that might be helpful.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/wheels-and-tires-6/

The regular C5s come with 17 X 8.5 rims in front and 18 X 9.5 rims in the rear. I believe the tire sizes are 245 front and 275 rear.

The Z06 is 17 X 9.5 front and 18 X 10.5 rear with 265 front and 295 rear tires.

The stock C5 can easily fit the Z06 size rims.

A lot of people like to put larger size rims and lower their cars to fill the gap between the tires and fender wells. The C6 rims will also fit on the C5s and are 18 front and 19 rear.

There are a ton of threads on this subject. You can use the search function and probably pull up more threads than you can read in a month.

Just be careful before you buy to make sure the rims will fit. Learn about the different dimensions that go into rim design including offset. I can't tell you how many times I have seen people buy rims that did not work for one reason or another including not providing enough clearance for the brake calipers.

Robert

The Pilot Sports are very good tires. If they aren't close to being worn out I'd hold out until they are. But hey, if you got the money then go for it. There is a lot of info about wheels on the this site. Just look around and do some searches. The vendors on this forum are also very knowledgeable and can give you suggestions on what fits your car and what many others are doing.

Sounds like you are getting a heck of a car for graduation. Treat it with respect and it will treat you well. Best of luck on your wheel/tire choice.

Here is what I run on my lowered Z06. I have CCW Classics. I think they look outstanding on my car. I am always getting positive comments on how good they look. I have 18" wheels front and rear. The fronts are 10" wide and the rears are 11". I have PS2's, the fronts are 265/35-18 and the rears are 295/35-18. They fit perfectly and are the correct diameters so that you won't have computer issues with the ABS or TCS. As I mentioned, my car is also lowered and with these sizes you won't have any rubbing. These are sizes I worked out with John, the owner of CCW. CCW's customer service is great and you can't go wrong buying their wheels.

BTW, if you go to their website there is a gallery where you can see their wheels on different customer cars. There are several C5's in the gallery showing Classics on them. www.ccwheel.com.

Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it a whole lot. I am glad to hear nothing but good about ccw and glad to hear the pilot sports are good so I must be on the right track. Dont worry I will be fine taking care of the car, we have had corvettes in the family since before I was in the family. Plus, if anything happens to the car idk what my dad would do.....

Thanks,
Robert

Congrats on the new ride (for you)! I'd watch the C5 parts section for a nice set of used rims/tires. If you are patient...what you want will usually come along. Take your time and have a plan for modding your vette. Think of an overall look and what you want to achieve performance wise and make a plan. Maybe you will lower the vette, tint the windows and pick up some rims/tires this year. Work hard and enjoy your new ride!!
