Default vss wire for gps

hey all,

i just got my first vette about 4 days ago, and am super excited.

i found a JVC single-din head unit that has a gps (which i would like to purchase), but my concern with installing the unit is the vss wire.

i have a 2004 z06...is the vss wire accessable if i remove the head unit? is there someone else who has installed an in-dash gps with any tips for me?

thanks for the help in advance!

check in the Audio/Electronics section (under "General Corvette"). Do a search over there, there have been several write ups on NAV unit installs in the C5. There is also a C5 audio FAQ that may have what you are looking for. Congrats on the Vette, jand the JVC. You wont be dissapointed with either (I have the non NAV version of the JVC unit...and a C5Z)

Hope this helps from another vette post.........

You will have to tap into the harness on the instrument cluster. You need to find the Green/white (A7-circuit 817) with a tan/white (A6-circuit 33) above it and a black (A8-circuit 150 ) below it..The other green/white (A10-circuit 357) oil temp has a blank and a gray on each side.

all of the above is accessible from the drivers side knee bolster area....

Here is the cluster harness pin diagram (VSS is pin "A7"):

This is the harness you want (driver's side kick panel):
