When you catch the SOB who did this, put a flare down his pants! Good luck restoring. Invite him to Carlisle this August and introduce him to thousands of Vette drivers!
First off, those pics make me queezy. I'd be livid! So sorry that happened to you. On the up side, so glad it worked out financially for you but I know, no amt of $ can make up for the stress you went through.
Any chance this is the work of those environmental wackos who think they're doing the world a favor by burning things? Every so often they'll burn some ski resort under construction, and I've seen where they mess up a whole line of SUV's at some dealer's lot. Maybe they had a warped idea your Vette is a gas-guzzler and was endangering spotted turtles or something. Have you had any of those type of morons around there?
Did the investigator find any fingerprints on your vette or recovered flares, or other evidence around the scene? No witnesses? Was anyone questioned based on names you provided to the police as "persons of interest"? I agree this was likely not a random act, but someone that either knows you or a stranger that had an 'incident' that involved you. Hope everything works out well for you. It's a horrible thing to have your property destroyed by some jackass.
totall it. Then talk with your insurance, or avoid them either way and talk to the police impound, tell them like it is and demod it. Most of the time they understand and are decent people. Thats what I would do and have done with cars in the past. Sometimes you have to do it before the insurance adjuster looks at it, but I can guarantee in a similar situation with me, my turbos would be coming off, stereo, brakes, rims etc etc. I have yet to run into someone who would not let me do that. Ideally I would let the adjuster see the car, pay for the car then take all the mods off of it I could. If it needs wheels replace them with some wagon wheels etc unless you have receipts for all of them mods, and want to avoid the hassle, and the insurance company with pay for them. haha but IMHO I would total it take my mods off, and find a C6 to put them on.
