Default Rear Rotors Replacement

How hard is it to replace the rear rotors? Will I need special tools? Does this effect any sensors? Just wondering. New to C5. I am old C3 guy with new to me C5.

Easy. Just remove the two bolts holding the rear calipers (make sure the emergency brake is released). After lifting the calipers off, the rotors will slide off the studs (may need a little tap or two) Now's the time to adjust the emergency brake if necessary. They are a small drum type brake (no automatic adjustment) They have a "star wheel) that spreads the shoes apart. A little trial and error will give you the correct adjustment (no drag). My emergency brakes wouldn't hold on a slight incline. Now they'll hold on a steep hill!

Piece of cake. If they are the originals it might take some pounding with a rubber mallet. Make sure the emergency brake is off or you will never get the rotors off. The rotors have a built in brake drum in the center. Do one side at a time in case the spring comes loose from the emergency brake set up. That way you can see how it goes back together. Don't ask me how I know this
Mo special tools or sensors to worry about

Have a look at my website: http://www.ronjpics.com/Corvettestuff.htm and go to item #3.

Once you have the calipers and pads off, the caliper support bracket has to be removed to get the rotor off. Two fasteners, very tight! Be sure you have the correct size socket for them and use red loctite when you put them back in.

Yeah, I just finished putting mine back on today on my 02 Z06. Repainted the calipers red and painted the caliper bracket and the rotor hub as well. Replaced the pads and rotors.

Easiest brake job I have ever done in my life.

Take wheels off.
Take caliper bracket off and slide caliper off rotor.
Hit rotor around edges with hammer and side off lugs.

Done.

Only took 5 minutes to bleed both sides as well. I love these cars.
