I just seen the first E-85 gas pump here on Long Island. I'm sure their has been a post on the subject before but I might have missed it. My question is can you just put this in your car or will the computer have a nervous breakdown? I see alot of GMcars stateing their flex fuel cars.
I wouldn't get E-85 near my car with a ten foot pole.
Just the mandatory additive everyone is putting in nowadays is destroying vehicles. Corroding and eating everything up. Tomorrow I have to drop the gas tank and replace the entire fuel pump in my wifes 1998 malibu because the ethanol corroded everything beyond repair.

Seems like I saw an article in Vette Magazine about the conversion on a C6. I did not read it so I can not comment on the article, but the previous posters got it right, there are components that get eaten up with ethenal. Here in the southwest we only see the 10% mix. I have not seen any detremental effects, just an assumed worse gas mileage.
It will cost a lot,,but you will get good MPG,,,,as it's going down the road on the flat bed going to the shop to get your fuel system fixed!!:cheers :
The C5s were not designed as flex fuel vehicles so it would require modifications to run on E-85. Anyway why would you want to, your gas mileage would go down by 25%. E-85 is an ill conceived alternative from day 1.

Thats true, the gas mileage is much less. However, the idea is that the money you spend on E85 stays here, supporting American farmers, and not foreign oil.
