Then God made man and several ages past. Man became filled with knowledge and as a tribute to God, Man created the Corvette. God Looked upon the Corvette and was pleased. So God doth Sayeth unto those who were privileged enough to own the holy sports car the following commandments:
I. Thou shalt not loan a Corvette to anyone
II. Thou shalt not bring a Corvette to an automatic car wash
III. Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow owner
IV. Thou shalt not swear at Corvette - for it is very temperamental
V. Thou shalt not cruise on an unpaved road
VI. Thou shalt not pass a fellow Corvette owner in distress
VII. Thou shalt not feed with budget grade fuel
VIII. Thou shalt not expose Corvette to severe weather conditions
IX. Thou shalt not forget to activate alarm
X. Thou shalt not acknowledge a porsche or 280Z as being true sports cars
As the years past, God saw that many owners of the beloved and holy sports car were not keeping to his commandments. Thus God decreed that the fifth generation of the holy sports car be plagued with faulty window regulators, broken headlight gears, Bad oil pressure sending units and Gas gauges that lie.
The years yet again past and God saw a revival of his people and graced them with a revised set of commandments for Daily Drivers:
I. Thou shalt not covet other sports cars, lest your car be come depressed and run lean.
II. Thou shalt not use parts from other vehicles to repair or modify thy holy corvette.
III. Thou Shalt not eat nor drink in the corvette for it is a holy place. Foor and beverage may be transported but only in sealed containers such as the holy cooler.
IV. Thou shalt mind where thy vette is parked to keep it safe from unscrupulous persons.
V. Thou shalt not curse the name of vette even when thou drop a part under the sacred battery tray.
VI. Thou may drivith thy vette in rain or snow for it is a car and was designed to tolerate such conditions. However woe to those who do not clean their vette upon better weather
VII. Thou shalt maintain all fluids and pressures at proper levels
VIII. Thou shalt mind the words of the message center for they are holy
IX. Thou shalt treat thy fellow corvette owning breatheren with respect.
X. Thou shalt treat fellow drivers with respect, lest they damage thy holy sports car with their poor driving.
The first 10 years that I owned Corvettes I exposed them to all sorts of severe weather conditions as my first two Vettes were daily drivers that got driven in rain/snow/ice and muddy conditions. During cold weather they got washed once every two months whether they needed it or not. Washing a car when the temperature is below freezing is not thrilling.
The Vette isn't a daily driver any more but still sees a fair share of being driven in the rain.
I do believe that we need have an ammendment to the original. There is nothign wrong with automatic car washes as long as they are touchless. Or maybe I am just going to hell during the drought season.....who knows
Keep these commandments, my brethren, lest you end up in Detroit instead of Bowling Green when you go to the great beyond! Many sinners are now driving Pintos down gravel roads instead of a ZR1 on streets of gold! Now is the time to repent!
