Default Strange Request

Hey guys,

I have had my 04 C5 for less than a month now and I have a strange question. The lid on my center console storage compartment does not open very wide. I would say it opens about 45-50 degrees. Is this normal, or could I have a broken hinge? I searched everywhere for a pick with the lid open, however I could not find anything.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

It's a double hinge type of thing....not sure how to explain but open it and sort of pull it at same time it will open all the way.

If you open it pulling lightly towards you and then up, it will open all the way. It is double hinged. A little light penetrating oil on the hinge will help, too - just as Bill K. suggested.

When I got mine the previous owner almost had a heart attack when I was trying to open it, he had to reach in the car and show me cuz he thought I was going to break it. Ooops.

If it has a arm rest cover on it that may be all it opens. The aftermarket pads due to the thickness cut down on the width the door will open as well.

But damn don't they look nice?

(As blacksedan87 said) I lubricated my hinge points with "3 in 1" oil and now it functions much better!

May I "highjack" this portion of this thread?
I installed an aftermarket pad on mine and the forward latch no longer engages the keeper slot. It seems they are about a 1/4" off from each other. The odd thing is that the locking portion (key) lines up and locks. Anyone run into this problem and found a solotion? For now I have removed the latch so the top closes down all the way...
